It's not totally clear, but I think this particular Model is the \"Salopian Improved Excelsior Pat # 330478\"...?
I think that the main body would be made of cast iron and the outer ring wrought iron. All would have had a galvanised coating, which has worn off in places...
Good overall solid vintage condition. Would clean up lovely with a sand blast or wire brush and maybe a coat of hammarite. Alternatively, leave it with the natural look. Either way, these have many more years of life left in them positioned outdoors...
Could be used as a decorative feature or maybe to have a practical application such as flower planter or bird bath. Could easily be bolted to an outside wall, fence post, etc...
