When Elbert Engel designed the 105E Anglia he used lots of American Styling cues and the finished result that was launched in September 1959 at the Earls Court Motor show was nothing short of a revelation, and of course the biggest talking point was that breathtaking reverse rake rear window treatment that the car will always be remembered for.

The car was so different in every single respect over the 100E Anglia that the car replaced that literally the name was the only correlation between the two models. Fords ancient outgoing side valve technology was replaced by a magnificent 997cc “Oversquare” OHV engine mated to a super slick 4 speed manual gearbox. The car was absolutely delightful to drive and quickly found so many fans that demand was far outstripping supply. It was a universal success for Ford and it wasn't long before it was winning races and rallies by the score due to the fact that the new engine was exceptionally tunaeble and that it handled beautifully on its new Macpherson Strut suspension.

An estate version soon followed along with a couple of Thames Vans and finally a 1200 cc “Super” version which gave the car an extra 200cc’s, larger brakes and also synchromesh on first gear was launched in 1962. Eventually the 1200 engine and box from the Super was also offered in the “Standard” and “Deluxe” models inclusive of the estate which is what we are offering here. Any 1200cc Anglia is therefore not a 105E, but in actual fact referred to as a 123E.

Bradley James Classics are very proud to be able to bring you a now very rare to the marketplace Anglia 1200cc Deluxe Estate finished in wonderful Spruce Green with matching two tone interior. Its nice that its the earlier car which benefitted from the two tone interior as later models were equipped with single tone which was always more sombre and lost the earlier cars charm.

She is in good presentable survivor condition as opposed to being a concours example. She is not one you will be frightened to use and will gain much pleasure from owning her and taking her to classic car shows where she is bound to be a talking point.

Her bodywork is in good order throughout however one has to set expectations accordingly when looking at a car which is 56 years old. Her doors, wings, roof, tailgate and bonnet and all good and fit nicely, Her Spruce Green paintwork is largely original but you will find the odd scratch and scrape along the way and the odd area of paint touch ups etc. She has clearly had paintwork in her time as any car of this age has and there are a couple of areas where the match isn't perfect but again all adds to her survivor charm in that she's not an over restored perfect example. Anybody that sees the car cant help but comment positively and smile. Her chrome work is all good and original with a nice patina. She is solid underneath and has been undersealed previously.

Mechanically she is exceptionally good starting on the button and driving excellently. She sits on good wheels with original chrome hub caps all riding on new matching Goodyear Tyres. She sounds wonderful too with her characteristic exhaust note echoing through the stainless steel exhaust system. She has a large history file including her original handbook and will comes with a years MOT.

Step inside and you are greeted with a lovely survivor interior in good order throughout. Her front seats have been retrimmed to perfectly match the rears, her original rubber matting is still all present and correct and her doorcards and dash are all good and everything works as it should. Her headlining is in good original condition which shows its age in places but evidencing no rips or tears.
In short this in a rare sight today and Anglia Estates do not come up for sale very often, especially not the larger engined 1200cc versions. She is in good largely original survivor condition. She is not a perfect example but rather a nice cherished car that you can jump in on a Sunday and attend a local classic car show where she will get much interest.
In stock now, we do not anticipate she will be here long due to her extreme rarity now in 2020 - of the 1.5 million Anglias made only 130,000 estates were built ….examples now and very scarce indeed but this is your opportunity to snap one up now up before prices get completely unobtainable.
