The Flintstones Annual 1964 Original Hardback With Cartoons By Gene Hazelton. Very Good Used Vintage Condition.

Being offered for sale here is a very good condition used Vintage hardbacked Flintstones Annual, copyrighted by Hanna-Barbera Inc. in 1964. A little gem. Evocative of a bygone era but still highly entertaining and collectable.

All the ic strips throughout this book’s 93 pages are illustrated in full colour. It also has full colour illustrated end papers and full coloured pictorial hard cover.

The Hanna-Barbera Studios in America produced the first prime-time animated series on television when they introduced The Flintstones. The series debuted on CBS in 1960, with characters reportedly modelled after The Honeymooners.

The Flintstones was Hanna and Joseph Barbera’s most popular and successful creation, spawning movies ic books. The cartoon strip began in 1961 after the great success of the television series.

The first and main artist on the strip was a veteran animator called Gene Hazelton. At one time or another he was later assisted by Roger Armstrong, Dale Hale, Harvey Eisenberg and Jesse Marsh.

This book has been lightly used and is in overall good condition for its age. Its publication did not include a dust jacket. The book’s hard covers and inside pages are not marred by notes or highlighting or colouring in or prior owner inscriptions. There is a light pencil price of 3/11 on the top right hand corner of the front end page. Its binding remains firm and tight, and the spine pletely intact and in good condition (with signs of creasing and wear at the top and bottom from having spent most of its life on a shelf). There are no loose or missing pages, nor any rips or tears or stains to the cover or inside pages. The covers have various small signs of use on them – which is to be expected given this is a vintage item. The inside pages show a little light yellow discolouration, commensurate with their age. However, the text and illustrations are still bright and clear.

This is a private sale from a pet and smoke free home. The book has been in the possession of the current owner’s family since it was originally purchased shortly after publication.
