Gilt Gold Leaf French Versaille style armchair from the 1960’s
This stunning Versailles armchair with classic ivory upholstery features soft caramel and soft grey tones with intermittently raised focal points, features a unique style that is an icon of French design. Exquisitely hand carved details emphasise the fashion of this piece and adds a delicate class to the chair. This sophistication creates a regal presence, typical of the Versailles style, within the armchair. The slender curves of the front legs with their ornate hand carved features, finished with hand applied soft gold brush strokes and gold leaf for a truly luxurious finish, this piece is then exquisitely distressed to give it a wonderful universal appeal.
It is also a fortable chair to sit in and this design was used by nursing mothers with their babies as it offered so fort and support!
Purchased by my mother in the 1960’s, this is the original upholstery and is in immaculate, brand new condition and has been in her home and now our home since then.
