Vintage 100 Dollar Bill Cigarette Case. Great collectable item. Size is 6 3/4” X 3 1/4”
These are metal cases that were popular before and after World War II
Vintage World War II era rectangular, cigarette or money holder case engraved to look like a $100 bill. The case reads ‘series of 1928' and it looks like a real 1928 $100 bill, but I'm not sure if that is the actual manufacture date since I understand most of these cases were from the 1940's. The case measures 6 3/4\" by 3 1/4\" by 5/16\" thick The back looks just like the real $100 bill. The engraving of Independence Hall is quite nice and clear. There is a hinge along the entire long edge and a spring loaded opening button.
It is in very good condition, with a silver colour finish with little wear. Edges with some wear show what appears to be a brass material.
It is all very readable, the engraving bold and the black colouring is great.
There are no dents or dings. I believe there was at one time an elastic band stretching end to end on the inside of the case to hold whatever. Although it is not there anymore, there are two slots on the inside for a replacement.
It remains sound overall with the hinged and latch areas working nicely and is a unique item.
