Having owned and cared for our 92 Nova Fun 1.2i since 2004, my wife and I, as we are older now, have decided to hand over the responsibility to someone else skilled and committed enough for the on going care of this classic car. Just had MOT (till March 2024) and been on some runs already which brings back memories. It’s a great drive, turns heads and is always initiating peoples Nova experiences when parked up. I would describe the Nova as a fine example of this model (not custom car), kept as original as possible and well able to be taken to another level of restoration if wanted. Apparently, there are very few Fun models around. Our Nova has always been well looked after and not thrashed in our keeping,

I am not in the motor trade, but I am an engineer having 55 years experience of caring for, and rebuilding vehicles to a high standard for my own satisfaction and use, having facilities to cover the work etc.

The Nova was almost completely rebuilt between 2010 to 2017 and was undertaken because it was viable, and I took my time to do the work to my satisfaction (As an example, I took 2 weeks to refurbish the cylinder head recently, paying attention to detail).

I always expect a few minor jobs after a rebuild, and 5 years on, they are (mainly paintwork- see images), also renew rear brake lines and do properly, a temporary fix on heater control. At that time of rebuild I sprayed it in original Miami Blue in 1K acrylic, planning to see how the rebuild fared before going over with a more durable paint. The car has held up very well apart from said few paint issues (see example images)etc. certainly well enough for me to stick to original plan for the paint work, should it not sell. I might add that I fitted new sills during rebuild, have photo’s and know issues in rear sill areas are cosmetic. All other aspects also have held up well with good servicing, drives really sweet, and despite having done 106,796 miles, I would expect it to do it again. I did think it a good idea recently to refurbish the cylinder head (see images). Nothing untoward and pistons and bores fine.

I managed to get some spares from a same model but apart from a wind shield and drivers seat, have not used them. The spares include ECU, Injector unit, cylinder head, manifolds, alternator, starter, bumpers, original radio and more.

In case of question, I fitted the tow bar many rears ago when the Nova was our only car but only used with small fishing trailer a few times before we got another car for every day use.

All I have done in preparation for this sale is clean the Nova, no touching up or polish and no tyre black etc. which seems to be standard practice, to show the car as it is. I also have made a real effort with images and writing this advert to faithfully convey it’s true condition with a view to trying to attract a suitably skilled enthusiast buyer who knows how to look after classic cars. This preference is just as important to us as getting (or very near) the asking price, so please read advert thoughtfully and carefully to save wasted effort for everyone. I also wouldn’t like to think of someone inadvertently buying it without thoughts of being able to care of it.
