T25 VW Campervan NEW PHOTOS ADDED 1988, 1.9 Diesel (Golf engine) MOT to JUNE23

Beloved T25 Campervan - has MOT to June and runs fine BUT needs significant welding to get it through it's next MOT - we have been quoted £3000 but as our kids have outgrown it we have decided not to go ahead and sell on for someone else to make it their project.
We have had some very happy family holidays in this van and are very reluctant to let it go!

1988 E reg, watercooled diesel 1.9
Original engine was replaced approx. 14 years ago with a 1.9 TDI Golf Engine, so the mileage is inaccurate for the engine
Good strong engine - sits very happily at 70mph on the motorway, can do more.
Left Hand Drive (was imported from Germany)
Rock and Roll double bed - sleeps 2 adults and 1-2 small children
Hammock/poles for a toddler/child to sleep above the front seats
2 tables - one between the front seat and 1 in the back
Captain/swivel chairs (both driver and passenger)
2 ring gas hob
gas powered fridge
sink with tap - no longer drawing but am told this is an easy fix
gas central heating - used to work but haven't tried in the past few years so can't say for sure
lots of storage space - overhead cupboards in the high top
Original curtains will be provided (I made our own more fun ones but they are getting tired now)
Seat belts for 5 people
Has electric hookup (not tested as we tend to go to campsites without electricity)
Leisure battery
Radio with jack hole for connecting phones etc, good speakers in front and back
Roof rack with ladder up to it
Towbar
Lots of receipts and evidence of big spending (£15k+) over the 12 years we've had it!
eg. Last year new cam belt and water pump, 2020 new alternator, new battery, 2019 new clutch etc etc. Think we've replaced everything at least once!
The milegae on the clock is in kms so we think it's around 200,000 miles (but less for the engine which was put in 12 ish years ago)
Problems:
RUST - it needs around £3000 spending to get through the next MOT, but tbh could do with a re-spray as lots of little rust spots that make it look worse than it is.
Speedo works/doesn't work intermittently, battery warning light so presume a lose wire somewhere (new battery Feb 2020)
Realistically priced because of this.
