Public Affairs Manager

Venesky-Brown s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow/Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Public Affairs Manager for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of GBP236/day (Inside of IR35). This role will be hybrid working. Responsibilities: - Work with project management as well as policy and legal colleagues to deliver strategic communications contributions to the organisation s consultations and impact assessments. In addition to supporting the development of contributions to wider public consultations or calls for evidence. - Be informed and keep up to date with relevant trends and changes in the sector and the wider political, social, and economic landscape in Scotland and the rest of the UK. - Understand your audience and wider trends which may impact on how messages are received, offering strategic advice on the tone, content, timing, and direction of communications and engagement activity. - Work with the wider team to evaluate the effectiveness of public affairs engagements and provide insight into continuous improvement. Essential Skills: - Relevant experience and a proven track record in reputation management and public affairs and / or educated to degree level within a relevant field. - A strong interest in, and enthusiasm for, politics, policy issues and current affairs with practical knowledge of the Public Sector. - High level strategic thinking skills with the ability to horizon scan and anticipate impending trends or issues. - Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the correct audiences and mediums. - Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, listening, and relationship building skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels both within and out with the business. - The knowledge, confidence, and good judgement required to provide valuable and accurate advice to senior members of the team and the wider organisation. - Effective planning skills and the ability to deliver to tight and often competing deadlines with the ability to own and deliver multiple projects. - The ability to assimilate, analyse and summarise large amounts of information quickly while paying close attention to detail. - The capacity to work well on your own initiative as well as working as part of a team to be proactively engaged in wide range of communications activities. - Digital communication skills and the ability to use a wide range of digital mediums to deliver messages and monitor evolving situations.
