This spectacular 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL has covered just under 43,000 miles in over 55 years. Originally purchased in Germany, this LHD model went to the US in the seventies, where it was dry stored for over 30 years, before being imported into the UK in 2014.Powered by a 2.5 L inline-6 that was enlarged from the 2.3 L engine in the 230 SL, this 250 SL produced 148 hp at 5,500 rpm and 159 lb ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. Fitted with a manual gearbox, this example went from 0-60 in 9.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 121 mph.Subject to a total ground up restoration that finished this year, it had prehensive engine rebuild including new pistons, bearings, oil pump, water pump, and new valves prepared for unleaded petrol. The gearbox was rebuilt with new synchros, flywheel and clutch, and it features an all new braking system, including new servo, master cylinder, callipers, discs and pads. It has a refurbished injection pump, refurbished steering box, 123 electronic ignition, new alternator and starter motor and battery, new radiator, fuel tank and pump. It also has all new suspension, including new springs, shocks and bushes.Featuring a distinctive concave roofline, it has a detachable pagoda top. This 250 SL had a bare metal respray, new wheels, tyres and hubcaps, lights, steel bumpers, badges, seals and chrome all round. Inside, it has a new leather interior, new wood on the dashboard, steering wheel, and all the dials have been refurbished. It also has new carpets, a new soft top, central locking system and stereo with bluetooth. In total, over 90k has been spent on this car.
