At this time of year many parents are planning to buy a guitar as a Christmas present.
Many kids get frustrated and soon give up learning because they find that their guitar 🎸 is difficult to play and/or doesn’t sound right 👂
This is usually because it’s not been set up correctly or maybe e straight out of a box.
Common problems are;
-Too high strings
-Frets not level
-Poor intonation (notes not correct in all places)
Imagine driving a car were the engine sounded rough,hadn’t had the wheels balanced,and the brakes pulling to one side it wouldn’t be a be a pleasurable drive !
Famous guitarist have their own guitar technician because it’s important for it to feel and sound right.
When spending money on a guitar it’s worth adding an extra £25-£30 for a decent set up (fret work and electrical work is extra). That way you’ll be getting the full value from your purchase and much longer enjoyment 😀
