Four Vintage Andy Capp Cartoon Books 1965, 1968, 1969 & 1970. Very Good Used Condition Books. Humour.

These amusing nostalgic books are evocative of a bygone era yet remain just as entertaining today. The four books being offered for sale here as one lot are vintage originals, not modern facsimiles, and hence are highly collectable.

These landscape format soft covered books contain illustrated black and white drawings throughout by Reg Smythe from the Daily Mirror newspaper.

This lot prised of the following:

A rare early version book with no edition number but believed to be Number 15. Published in English by the Daily Mirror newspaper in 1965 and printed by Fleetway Printers, London. Size: approximately 230 mm wide by 158 mm high.

Book Number 20 published in English by The Daily Mirror newspaper in 1968 and printed by Index Printers, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Size: approximately 220 mm wide by 143 mm high.

Book Number 23 published in English by IPC Newspapers in 1969 and printed by Index Printers, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Size: approximately 220 mm wide by 143 mm high.

Book Number 25 published in English by Hamlyn in 1970 and printed by Index Printers, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Size: approximately 220 mm wide by 143 mm high.

Although these landscape format books have been read they are mostly in very good clean condition and are nice editions. All their pages, covers and spines are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting or prior owner inscriptions. There are no loose or missing pages, nor are there any rips or tears or stains to the pages. The spines show a little wear at their top and bottom, which is to be expected given these are vintage items. There are also a few very small bends in the paper on the outer top and bottom edges of some of the pages – consistent with light use. The pages inside all of these books have a light yellowish tan mensurate with their age.

There is noticeable creasing to the front and back covers of the oldest book (1965) with a consequent impact on the lamination of its covers. The outer top and bottom corners of the front cover of this book are also bent.

I would prefer the buyer to collect, and pay cash on collection please. (Social Distancing would be respected.)

In this situation I would make every reasonable effort to pack the books as carefully as possible so as to help ensure their safety and would use the Royal Mail's First Class Signed For Upon Receipt Small Parcel Service.
