Easily one of the best strats fender has produced in modern times, bar their custom shop models perhaps (although I have yet to try one which sings like this one). Check the reviews, they’re not kidding, this is something special. If I were to give my own impression, I think it feels ‘big and ballsy’, yet the definition and clarity is second to none whether it is dialled down or full throttle. Eric Johnson, a veery particular character who was keen to model this on his 1957 Stratocaster, famously sent 19 prototypes back to Fender before he felt happy to put his name to it. If you played this you might just feel the difference it makes.

It was born as a sunburst, although this gentleman decided to strip it and have it refinished in red nitro (3 layers, then 2 layers of clear) with the road wear identical to his beloved 1963 Strat, I had considered having it refinished back to its spec, but upon seeing it I immediately changed my mind – I’m not really one for fake roadwear but in this case, and with the reasoning, I like it. And it looks awesome!
