Customer Services Apprentice – The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Customer Services Team in an Apprenticeship Role for an 18-month period. The successful candidate will work towards achieving a Level 3 qualification in Customer Services.
You will be the first point of contact for both internal and external customers who contact the Customer Service Centre via telephone, e-mail, text and web-based services and also those who visit our Reception Area.
The team offer advice and assistance to customers on a wide variety of subjects that are dealt with by Braintree District Council, ranging from Environmental, Waste, Recycling, Planning, Housing, Benefits and Council Tax, plus many more.
Customer Services Apprentice – Key Responsibilities:
- Answer as many enquiries at the first point of contact by providing factual information or put the customer in touch with an appropriate officer as required
- Make bookings and take payments for our various departments including Pest Control, Refuse, Recycling & Street Scene Services
- Actively take part in surveying customers in relation to satisfaction with services to help us identify improvements to our services
- Provide administrative support to other areas of the organisation
- Help to promote our digital strategy by assisting customers to use our website and access our services on-line
- Liaise with staff from other services to ensure that customer receives a seamless service
- Take part in meetings, taking notes and minutes as required, providing feedback on the service provided to customers
- Undertake training to improve skills – dedicate the required time to your Level 2 qualification asking for advice or assistance where necessary
- Take part in Apprenticeship Projects to increase skills and knowledge
- Keep up to date with information or changes in service provision to ensure the customer always receives the right information
Customer Services Apprentice – You:
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work on their own initiative.
You will need to:
- Hold GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Have good communication skills
- Help and assist customers accessing services provided by Braintree District Council
- Liaise with customers via telephone, face to face and web-based services
- Greet visitors and respond to all customers' requirements in a positive, prompt, efficient, courteous and helpful manner
- Provide customers with information using relevant IT systems
- Be flexible and willing to learn
- Manage and assist customers in the reception area
- Be polite and helpful to both internal and external customers at all times
Good knowledge of Microsoft software e.g. word and excel is an advantage, however, full training and support will be provided.
