Perfect for the solo traveller

It's winter and icy. Just press a button on the remote and the camper blown-air heater is on, using a tiny amount of diesel to warm the whole van while you get ready to go out. Ten minutes later your two-seater run-around is ready to go, clocking up 50-55 mpg. (On a recent trip over 300 miles of level roads it did an average of 55mpg.) Road tax is only £30 and with AdBlue there are no inner city charges. When you park, there are no problems with car park barriers and at 4.4m long it fits easily into any parking space.

Want to stay the night, even in the depths of winter? No problem. If you are travelling off-grid, you will already have taken out the passenger seat and substituted the toilet seat. Push the roof up, put the thermal blinds on the windows, clear any clutter on the sofa into the overhead storage space, fit the table and you have everything within reach - cooking, reading, working or watching a film on your laptop, or putting your feet up to get lost in a thriller. Fresh food is stored in the pull-out electric cool-box, tinned and dried foods, pans and utensils in the shelves above the kitchen unit and in the cupboards below. Clothes can be stored in the end cupboard with a handy tambour door. There is more storage space above the cab.

When it's time to sleep, pull out the bed, retrieve bedding from the under-sofa storage, adjust the driver's seat, fit the extension, re-arrange the cushions, settle down and turn off the reading light. Your head can be at either end which is useful if you are parked on a slight slope. (The space under the sofa is also accessible from the driver's side sliding door.)

When it was new this van was converted to a wheelchair vehicle which explains the very low mileage and means there is some extra storage space under the floor where the generous 30 litre water tank is fitted. It's still inside the vehicle so protected from frost, and the level can be seen in the cut-out slot.

An unusual feature of this vehicle is the space at the back to accommodate a fold-up bike. This saves having to fit a cumbersome bike rack, and If cycling is not your thing this is a very useful storage space with access from outside and inside the camper. The inside door also allows long items to be carried when not in use for camping.
