c.1720~1753 Hertfordshire antique STRIP road map (not coin)
Description : 02 Aug, 2023
c.1720 (George I) or 1753 (King George II) map of 'Hertfordshire divided into its Hundreds', by Eman. Bowen (p131).
On the reverse, p132 shows the first strip road map from New Market (Suffolk) to Swasham (Norfolk).
Part of a series of maps of \"London to Wells, etc., commencing at New Market\".
Notable fine detail (and indication of early date) is two pole mills situated at New Market. Also fascinating, is the Old English letter \"s\"; appearing as stylised \"f\" when occurring within words.
