I have spent the last 6 years teaching Biology in outstanding and one of the best schools in London. The academic year ending in 2022, 90% of my A -Level students had all A - A* grades, with offers to Oxford and Cambridge university as well as top tier Russell Universities for Medicine, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Dentistry, Nursing and Veterinary Science. With this comes a lot of experience in helping to prep students with medicine interviews, especially those tailored for Oxford and Cambridge along with advice for personal statements.
Additionally at GCSE on average my students were over 1 grade above their target, and for the classes I had for two consecutive years, there was a large proportion of those who achieved 2 grades above target.
I am extremely familiar with misconceptions which prevail within the classroom, I am also incredibly experienced with the AQA exam board and I have been to seminars and had training by AQA, so I really do understand what they are looking for. As well as helping you learn and understand the content, I will help you link it synoptically to other topics, with tips on exam technique and how to phrase and use particular keywords, as well as practical lab skills and mathematical skills required for success in Biology. I already have multiple resources that I can adapt for each student to help increase their chances for success in their examinations, whether they are sitting a Foundation or Higher, Combine or Triple paper. We can also work on revision and recall strategies since Biology has the largest specification of all the subjects they will be sitting. I also have worked on so many questions with my students that I can also ensure I introduce content that is not clearly specified in the AQA specification but has come up in the past as an exam question. For these reasons I charge £35p/h for GCSE Biology and £40 p/h for A-Level Biology.
