Rare opportunity to purchase a bit of genuine history, an antique 19 century (before 1897) beautiful ceramic figure, vivid little girl with amazing craftmanship.
The word foreign was put on wares destined for the UK. From about the beginning of the 20th century, U.K required more details of origin than 'foreign'. They wanted the actual country, written in the Queens English (in the US, the act was called the 1890 The McKinley Tariff Bill, and in the UK it was the 1897 British Merchandise Marks Act).So the pair of vases pre-dated the UK act of 1897 because they do not conform to the legislation.
Well kept during past many decades, but time has left its marks on it.
