After the launch of the R129 at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes Benz dealers around the world were inundated with excited buyers wanting their orders confirmed by the manufacturer and was quickly set to being one of the most successful models ever produced by Mercedes. Moving forward to 2022 and the SL600 is still very much sought after, even more so with the desirable 6 litre V12 under the bonnet, making this a rare and coveted model indeed.
Provenance
The lucky first owner carefully and tastefully optioned the vehicle to his own specification before ticking the box for factory collection for the ultimate handover experience. That came around in December of 2000. Pleasingly the next custodians where equally as appreciative of this stunning example and continued to lovingly it maintained it at cost no object whilst adding to the growing history file. For the next 22 years it would cover an average of less than 2500 miles per annum. The Mercedes Benz SL interior offers a truly sumptuous and retro feel, with the build quality synonymous with the German brand throughout the years, with the luxurious refinements fort still clearly evident even after 22 years. The Designo Java leather seats pliment the darker ivory stitching details along with the Sable leather dash and light tan carpets that have been protected from new by Blue Mercedes-Benz over mats. A Burr Walnut veneered drivers centre tunnel, extended sable leather front screen pillars and Burr Walnut finished steering wheel, along with a leather trimmed roll over protection bar and polished aluminium internal door sill plate covers finalise the luxurious retro cockpit area perfectly.
