1954 Hofner Senator

The earliest Hofner Senator we have had in the shop - Serial number 1052 dates the guitar to 1954.
The Senator was produced from about 1953 onwards. This early example has a symmetrically shaped three-piece dark brown tortoiseshell headstock fascia with three inlaid central dots, and an original Compensator tailpiece with the Straten logo. The darker brunette burst is fantastic looking - there is some lacquer crazing beginning to appear but it really is in great shape.
The tailpiece does have a wee repair on the g-string prong, and small hole in the middle of the back of the headstock (added strap button at some point?). There is also signs of a repair/refinish to the top of the bass side of the neck - see last 3 pictures.
There is no case with this guitar but you can add a brand new Hofner Archtop case for only £99 (normal price £128).
